Team Lead - Structural Engineering

The Company

Our client is a well-regarded engineering consultancy delivering civil and structural solutions across infrastructure and energy projects.

With a strong workload and continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Team Lead for Structural to support team performance and project delivery.

The Role

This role sits at the intersection of technical delivery and people leadership. You will support the Section Lead in the day-to-day running of the civil/structural team, while also overseeing project delivery and mentoring engineers.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, while fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Section Lead with team coordination, workload planning, and resource allocation
• Providing day-to-day leadership and mentoring to graduate and intermediate engineers
• Overseeing project delivery from concept through to completion
• Reviewing designs, drawings, and technical documentation
• Monitoring project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
• Ensuring compliance with quality systems, standards, and best practice
• Leading performance check-ins and supporting staff development
• Promoting a strong team culture aligned with company values
• Supporting health & safety practices across office and site activities
• Assisting with process improvements and team efficiency initiatives

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 4+ years’ experience in a consultancy environment (6+ preferred)
• Strong technical capability across civil/structural design
• Experience supporting or leading small teams
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers
• Chartered/Professional Engineer status (preferred)
• Full NZ driver’s licence
